Perched along the picturesque Piscataqua River, Martingale Wharf is Portsmouth’s premier waterfront destination. Featuring two private event spaces for up to 50 guests and the option for a full restaurant buyout accommodating up to 200, it offers a versatile setting for any occasion. Conveniently located within walking distance of hotels and parking garages, and just minutes from I-95, it provides a central yet serene riverside escape.

1. Captain’s Quarters:

The Captain’s Quarters is a stunning event space featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that open in warm weather, offering breathtaking views of Portsmouth Harbor and the Piscataqua River. This private room is equipped with its own bar, making it perfect for a lively cocktail-style reception for 40-50 guests, with high-top tables and barstool seating. For a more intimate dining experience, the space comfortably accommodates up to 34 guests for a plated dinner.

2. The Balcony Suite:

Tucked off the main dining area, The Balcony Suite offers privacy with elegant frosted glass doors and a spacious sliding glass door that opens to picturesque harbor views in nice weather. This versatile space accommodates up to 34 guests for a buffet-style event or 44 guests for a seated, plated dinner.

*Enhance your event with our fire pits! The Balcony Suite rental includes the option to add two fire pits on our deck, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for your guests. While this addition does not increase the maximum occupancy, the fire pits will be reserved exclusively for your group for the duration of your event. (If weather conditions prevent their use, there will be no additional charge.)

3. Restaurant Buyout (Main dining room, bar, Balcony Suite, and deck):

For the ultimate private event, a buyout provides exclusive access to the restaurant’s main dining room and its stunning custom-made bar, all with sweeping views of Portsmouth Harbor and the Piscataqua River. In warm weather, multiple sliding doors open to our expansive outdoor deck—the perfect spot to take in breathtaking sunsets.

• Seated dining: Accommodates approximately 100 guests with space for a DJ and dancing or up to 140 guests seated.
• Cocktail-style reception: Accommodates up to 200 guests, offering a vibrant and social atmosphere.
