Inspired by Mexico’s vibrant and diverse cuisine, Maya is a regional Mexican eatery located in Charleston, SC’s lively upper King Street district. From the award-winning team at The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, Maya captures a mix of Mexico’s rich history and unique regional landscapes through an authentic, ingredient driven menu created by Executive Chef Brett Riley. Offerings celebrate the region’s uniquely bold flavors and traditional techniques through a selection of classic and reimagined Mexican dishes with hints of coastal influence. The restaurant’s in-house masa program, which utilizes a traditional nixtamalization process and corn sourced from Mexico, provides freshly made chips, tortillas, and other innovative dishes. From the bar, Mexican cervezas, worldly wines, and a mezcal-laden lineup of cocktails round out the experience. The restaurant’s design-forward interiors embrace minimalistic influences from the Yucatán coast, welcoming nature indoors with crisp, coastal vibes flush with bright whites, rich mixed woods, and other organic furnishings. On the open-air patio, the space comes alive with a full bar, and open-fire cooking on a comal, a circular, flat griddle used to cook masa. Maya offers dinner and Sunday brunch.
