Granada Theater

Long known for its intricate beauty and ubiquitous neighborly ambiance, Lower Greenville has always had a place in every Dallasite’s heart. Before ornate restaurants and favored drinking holes aligned the street, Lower Greenville was used primarily used as a straight-shot for commuters to reach downtown from Northern Dallas. These days, it’s the epicenter of entertainment for East Dallas and those willing to make the trip across North Central Expressway. Within this epicenter is one building that has stood the test of time (literally and figuratively speaking) – Granada Theater. The Granada Theater was built in 1946 and ushered in a new age of post-war entertainment for crowds of all ages. What began as a movie house has blossomed into a venue-favorite for many fans scattered throughout the Lone Star State and beyond, earning countless awards from the Dallas Observer, D Magazine and other notable publications. From the “Love Yourself” banner that hangs above the stage to the intricate art-deco designs that adorn the theater’s vast walls, there’s always something cool that will catch your eye. Speaking of the art deco, the same artists that worked on the Granada Theater also lent their talents towards Los Angeles’ famed Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Since 2004 and many renovations later, the Granada Theater has served as one of Dallas’ premier music venues. Several local acts and well-known bands have traveled through the theater including Bob Dylan, Adele, the Avett Brothers, Black Keys, Tom Jones, Leon Russell, Dave Mason, Sarah Jaffe and many more. Though primarily used as a concert venue, the theater has also hosted numerous special events including weddings, corporate events, holiday parties, anniversaries, mini music festivals and more. There are many ways to enjoy the intimate space the theater offers, the rest is up to you! Take a step back in time and experience a one-of-a-kind venue that oozes Americana and engages all the senses.
