Constructed between 1930 and 1931 by architect Francis D. Rutherford, the two-story Citizen News building design reflects classic Art Deco style at the height of its era. The building served as the headquarters for the Hollywood Citizen-News, one of the largest newspapers in Los Angeles, until the paper ceased publication in 1970. In 2018, the Citizen News Building was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
