The Chanler, an opulent mansion by the sea is located on Newport, Rhode Island’s famed Cliff Walk, and boasts sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. Conveniently located steps from Easton’s Beach and near several area attractions such as the Gilded Age mansions lining Bellevue Avenue, The International Tennis Hall of Fame, The Sailing Museum, and world-class shopping on Thames Street.

Social Events:

The Chanler specializes in weddings of up to 120 guests, offering reception space throughout several different Newport, Rhode Island, wedding venues and areas within the mansion. For weddings of more than 120 guests, we can accommodate your party as a tented event on our Cliff or Meadow Lawns. Weekend events require a two-night, 20-room mansion buyout.

Guest Rooms:

The Forbes Five-Star boutique hotel is styled with European elegance and houses twenty distinctly designed guest rooms, each reflecting a different time period. From the quietly serene Nantucket Ocean Villa to the Colonial-inspired Williamsburg Room, each space is thoughtfully furnished with astute attention to detail. Though each room is different, they all feature flat-screen televisions, wet bars, fireplaces, heated bathroom floors, multi-head showers, and antique artwork appropriately fitting the time period. Many guest suites also have skylights, jacuzzi tubs, and king or queen-canopy beds. Twelve of the rooms have outdoor decks, and 17 offer ocean views. Garden and Ocean Villas feature a private hot tub, and all Ocean Villas house a private dry sauna. With AAA Housekeeping Best Of award, guests can look forward to night turndown services, where tales of The Chanler are placed on their bed, and housemade chocolate treats make for the perfect nightcap. The Chanler adheres to strict hygiene standards and policies, ensuring a safe and comfortable stay.

Tucked away in a small private room with panoramic ocean views, Cara, a Forbes Five-Star restaurant, offers contemporary and creative blind-tasting menus inspired by European elegance and sustainable New England ingredients. Executive Chef Jacob Jasinski lets the food take center stage with avant-garde cuisine, creating new dishes daily to highlight ingredients harvested at their peak.

The Café, A sophisticated waterfront culinary destination, The Café highlights contemporary cuisine inspired by European influence and celebrates New England ingredients. Tables are set against a dramatic backdrop of sweeping ocean views with a birds-eye view of the beach below. The Café offers indoor seating adjacent to the hand-painted mural designed by local artist Deborah Sabo, or opt to dine al fresco on the covered year-round Terrace.

The Lounge, A timeless showpiece of in-depth design work boasting dark rich wood, imported upholstery, and custom wallpaper, set the scene for indulging in vintage spirits, handcrafted cocktails, and elusive wines.
