Willkommen by Black Hammer

At Willkommen, we are committed to ensuring that all guests feel warmly welcomed at all times, hence our name which means “Welcome” in German.  Located at the corner of Market and Sanchez Streets in San Francisco, California, Willkommen was opened in May 2019 by Black Hammer Brewing Company after a trip by the company’s founders to Munich to research Bavarian beer culture.

On a sunny September afternoon, Jim and Kevin were enjoying some fine German lagers in the Englischer Garten near the 18th century Chinese Tower underneath a sprawling canopy of large oak trees.  The tables were communal, the ambiance friendly, and the cold beer was delicious.  The entire experience was uniquely magical, and Jim and Kevin were inspired to recreate the feeling back home in San Francisco, and thus, Willkommen was born.

With our Bauhaus-meets-Bavarian aesthetic, 20-foot windows, towering living indoor trees, multiple living walls, creeping vines, sustainable Cal-German cuisine and 26 taps of craft Black Hammer beer, brewed just down the street, hard cider, hard kombucha and imported beer and wine, Willkommen brings you and your guests that our own flavor of that magical Munich experience right here in San Francisco.
